Following a 2019 referendum, SIDAMA is now recognised regional state of Ethiopia named for the local Sidama people, ending controversy surrounding the term Sidamo (that's on you, Starbucks). BEKELE TUTUTE grows coffee on his super elevated small lot DENBI, and the mild climate and slow ripening cherries produce complex and intense fruit flavours, with an underlying creamy sweetness.

DONAS DO CAFÉ translates to 'Ladies of Coffee' and is made up of a pristine selection of beans grown by female producers on small lots in GUAXUPE. All Donas do Cafe members are independent owners who come together to further their knowledge of specialty coffee. The coffee is cupped daily and is consistently blended to create a sweet, clean cup with a bright citrus acidity.

EL HATO:

Notes: Peach, Green Grape Meringue & Hazelnut
Origin: Colombia

Brew Guide: Filter, French press, Aero, Pour-over

Varietal: Caturra & Colombia

Local to the village EL HATO in Caicedo, six smallholders have formed a community specialty coffee group. Their 1.5ha farms are on the sides of a deep canyon that drops down to the CAUCA RIVER, where warm air currents become trapped and offset the chill of the very high elevation. Beans are denser and sweeter as they ripen slowly, developing stonefruit flavours and a light sparkling acidity.

The finca LA ILUSIÓN is the pride and joy of third generation producer AYDA SAMBONI and husband YARLEY CLADERON. Samboni is also part of social impact project EL PUENTE with sister Claudia: overseeing processing operations to highlight the smooth fruit-driven flavours of the region.

Finally a delicious decaf! The ASOCIACIÓN DE PRODUCTORES ECOLÓGICOS DE PLANADAS is an organic growing collective of 137 small farms, each no bigger than 6 acres. They have perfected an 8-hour sugar cane process to gently remove caffiene, but not coffee flavours. ASOPEP also offers free education to it's members, in future-proofing ecological practice and entrepreneurship.
